BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Moudud Ahmed on Friday called upon voters to go to polling stations and cast votes to get rid of misrule of the current government.
“A mass wave has been created in favour of the ‘Sheaf of paddy’ across the country and the ruling party will not be able to overcome it, if people can cast their votes. So, whatever situation comes, we have to cast our votes,” Moudud Ahmed said in a discussion
meeting at the National Press Club in the capital.
Adorsha Nagorik Andolon organised the programme.
He said, “We will have to give a befitting reply using voting power. The government’s fall is certain if the voters can cast their votes freely.”
Moudud Ahmed described the situation as a big opportunity for the BNP led 20-party alliance, Jatiya Oikyafront and the countrymen.
The BNP leader said, “That is why we should persuade the voters to go to polling stations braving all obstacles, threats and intimidations. We must put up a strong resistance if they (AL) create obstacles. We have no alternative.”
Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury, Trusty of the Gono Shaystho Trust, said, “This government will not be sustained. The boat has capsized, and it will not revive anymore.”
Meanwhile, Nagorik Oikya Convener and Jatiya Oikyafront leader Mahmudur Rahman Manna asked the people to resist all obstacles if created by the ruling party and administrations.
“We need to fight against the oppression of the autocratic government. They are conducting mass arrest of opposition leaders and activist. But we will fight back to resist them to restore democracy in the country,” Manna said.
