Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited finished 37th in the Al Ain Classical Chess Tournament concluded in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates on Friday.
After beating Fairouzja Alireza of Iran in the tournament wrapping up nine round matches, Ziaur secured 5.5 points to place 37th.
GM Nigalidze Gaioz of Georgia became champion with 7 points in tie-breaking system while GM Petrosian Tigran of Armenia finished runner-up, GM Onischuk Vladimir of Ukraine became 3rd and GM Zhigalko Sergei of Belarus placed 4th also secured 7 points each.
In all, 150 players including 43 grandmasters, 9 women grandmasters and 14 international masters from 27 countries are taking part in the event.
