GM Ziaur Rahman of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited became unbeaten champion in the 40th Berger Paints National ‘A’ Chess Championship held at the Media Centre of Bangladesh Olympic Association Bhaban on Saturday. Zia earned 11 points after 13 round to clinch the title. It’s 13 times National Chess title for Zia, he earned the title of the National Chess Championship last in 2011.
In the last round, Zia drew with GM Enamul Hossain of Bangladesh Navy. GM Niaz Murshed of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited became runner-up. Niaz earned 10 points. Niaz drew with IM Minhazuddin Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy.
