GM Mollah Abdullah Al Rakib of Saif Sporting Club became unbeaten champion in the Victory Day SGS FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament-2016 sponsored by Saif Global Sports and organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation.
He earned 8 points out of 9 games to clinch the title. The event was held on Saturday at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room.
GM Ziaur Rahman of Sheikh Russel Memorial Sporting Club became runners-up and IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin of Bangladesh Navy became 3rd with 7.5 points each.
Eight players earned 7 points and became 4th to 11th positions. They are: FM Mehdi Hasan Parag of Sheikh Russel Memorial Sporting Club, National Champion GM Enamul Hossain of Saif Sporting Club, Abdullah Al-Saif of Sultana Kamal Smirity Pathagar, CM Ikramul Haq Siam of Titas Club, Chanchal Kumer Ghosh of Janata Bank Officers Welfare Society, FM Kh. Aminul Islam of Bangladesh Navy, Uten of E Soft and CM Sohel Chowdhury of Titas Club.
M Abzid Rahman of Sheikh Russel Chess Club, Subrato Biswas of Sonargaon Chess Club, Mohammad Aminul Islam of Leonine Chess Club and Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan of Fire Service & Civil Defense finished at 12th to 15th position with 6.5 points each.
WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin bagged the number one spot among female with 6.5 points.
Earlier Mr. Tarafder Md. Ruhul Amin Chairman of Saif Global Sports and Vice President of Bangladesh Chess Federation inaugurated the event as chief guest.
A total of 168 players including 3 Grandmasters, 2 International Masters participated in the event.
The event was held in 9 round Swiss-League system, total one lac taka cash prize money given to the winners.
