First Grand Master of sub-continent Niaz Murshed of Saif Sporting Club captured third position in the Continental Open Chess which was held from 10 to 13 August 2017 in Massachusetts, USA.
A Bangladesh Chess Federation press release on Monday said, GM Niaz on the way to this 3rd position accumulated 4.5 points out of 6 games.
GM Niaz won against Yili Wen, Michael Isakov and Liran Zhou, He drew with Yelfry Torres, GM Sergey Kudrin and GM Priyadharshan Kannappan.
Bangladesh Chess prodigy GM Niaz earned 700 US dollars as prize money. A total of 46 players including 5 Grandmasters participated in the event.
