Gano Jagoran Mancha, Chittagong Unit held a jubiliant rally in Chittagong hailing the appeal verdict of the Supreme court against the war convict Mir Kashem Ali upholding the verdict of ICT .
GJM Chittagong arranged the jubiliant rally at Cheragi Pahar square yesterday morning after announcement of the appealverdict of Jamaat leader Mir Kashem Ali.
The speakers in the rally demanded acquisition of the former Dalim Hotel of Hazari lane area in city for preserving the memory of the Liberation Martyrs . A jubiliant procession brought out from Cheragi Pahar square which paraded the Jamal Khan and Anderkilla .
The rally was presided by the convener of Chittagong Unit Sharif Chowhan. Sharif Chowhan in his brief address said the nation achieved the desired verdict and all should be united to exe cute the vedict in due time.
He also mentioned that Mir Kasehm Ali made the Dalim Hotel as torcher cell during liberation war and the Al Badar bahini under his directions killed huge numbers of liberation aspirants. And hence, they demanded acquisition of former Dalim Hotel as memorial of the martyrs.
Mentionable that death row convict Jamaat leader Mir Kashem Ali was the President of former Islami Chhatra Sanga, Chittagong District Unit and by dint of seniority he was made as Commander of AL Badar Bahini.
Among others, women personality Nurjahan Khan, former President of Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh , Chittagong Engr Delwar Majumder, Vice President of Udichi, Chittagong Sunil Dhar, FF FAzal Ahmed, Chhatra Union President Shimul Biswas, teacher Salma Jahan Mili, Amitab Sen, Rubel Das were present in the rally.
