Girls have proven their dominance again

THE New Year-2020 began with a high optimism on education, particularly for girls who have outshined the boys in the two biggest public examinations — Primary Education Completion Examination (PECE) and Junior School Certificate (JSC) Examinations. In terms of participation rate, success rate and grades achieved, the girls were well ahead of their male counterparts in PECE and JSC results that came out on Tuesday. Compared to last year, the results also showed that the pass rate and the number of GPA 5 achievers in the JSC increased, while they decreased in PECE. The combined pass rate of JSC and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) exams are increased by 2.07 percentage point this year. It is really a positive sign for our society that girls are doing well in the exams. It also proved that the investment and initiatives for girls’ education is bringing results. Initiatives like stipend and other facilities that attracting more parents toward girls’ education are vital reasons for girls doing well. We can say when girls are given the opportunity they would make major contributions to society. They could bring change in prejudiced, backward mindsets to take the country forward.
We must congratulate the juvenile force for their brilliant results and at the same time we should urge the government for reviewing the necessity of the PECE and JSC exams. Until this decade, girls were lagged behind boys in every sphere of life including education, economic activities. But this time girls come onto leadership in every aspect but their vulnerability and insecurity is still a great concern. Still a good number of girls can’t go to school for different social obligations and repressive attitudes of male section of the society. Most of the country’s schools are not accommodated enough to provide healthy and hygienic facilities to the girls.
Even so, they are proceeding forward. We do appreciate it again.
