Like the previous year, Manarat Dhaka International School and College organized an interschool badminton tournament for girls on 3 and 4 November where nine English medium schools took part. The tournament kicked off on Friday at Manarat School premises.
Quamrun Nahar Dana, Director, Muhamedan Sporting Club Ltd and Special Olympic of Bangladesh, was present as chief guest. Before the inauguration national anthem was sung and our national flag, Manarat flag and Olympic flag were hoisted .The chief guest lauded the girls for their very good performance without being trained and asked them to play regularly to keep themselves physically fit to lead the world. Shethanked Manarat authority for arranging such a tournament and urged them to arrange a training session for its students. Later, she handed over the certificates and prizes among the winners. The participated schools are Manarat Dhaka International School & College, Bangladesh International School & College, Chittagong Grammar School, European Standard School, International Turkish Hope School, Green Gems International School, Bangladesh International Tutorial, Canadian International School and Islamic International School& College.
The Competitions held in four categories: They are: Junior Single, Junior Doubles, Senior Single, Senior Doubles. In Junior Single, Mahea Sehrin from Canadian International School snatched away the Champion’s Trophy and Syeda Ariana Rahman of Bangladesh International School & College became the runner up. In Junior Doubles Sumaiya Islam Ripte and Shayyara Sinteet Khan from Manarat Dhaka Int. School and College became the champion and Mayabi Marzan Pranty and Nowsin Sonon of International Turkish Hope School became runner up. In Senior Singles Jannatul Ferdous Tazin from Manarat snatched the championship trophy and Sakura Takahashi from Manarat Dhaka became runner up. In Senior Doubles Faiza Rahman Ayesha and Nahiat Akther of Canadian International School became the champion and Dyotona Bhattacharjee and Sumaiya Hossain of Chittagong Grammar School, Dhaka, got the runner up trophy. Mahea Sehrin of Canadian International School (Junior Group) and Manarat student Jannatul Ferdous Tazin (Senior Group) were declared as the best players of the tournament.
Among others, Fatima Jemaima Rahman, Vice Principal of MDIC, co-ordinator (Girls) Ayesha Begum, Among the senior faculties Sajeda Akter, Tahera Tasneem and Tahmina Yeasmeen were present on the occasion.
