After about seven months of love, a boyfriend has been accused of gang-raping his girlfriend inviting her in a birthday party in Savar. Police on Wednesday arrested the boyfriend Rabiul and sent him to court for a five-day remand. Earlier, he was arrested from Kalma area of Savar. The arrested Rabiul Islam is the son of Azizul Haque alias Aziza Haque of Bindukhash village under Dhamuirhat police station in Naogaon district.
The other accused are Shahidul Islam, 28, son of Shahjahan of Kalma area of Savar, Monir Hossain alias Monir Kasai, 40, son of Abdul Wahab of Jinjira area of Savar and Md. Robin, 28, son of Abu Yusuf of Jinjira area. Mentioning the names of these four persons in this incident, 2-3 more unidentified persons have been charged.
It is known that the young woman had a love affair with Rabiul for about seven months. Later on Monday night, Rabiul took the girl to an abandoned house of Akbar Ali in Kalma area of Savar Sadar Union in the evening after talking about the birthday party of his friend’s son. She was raped and handed over to the boy’s friends. At that time, the girl was beaten and six more people raped her in turn. The victim then returned home sick. When a complaint was lodged at the police station, Rabiul was arrested and sent to court. The victim was learning to work in a beauty parlor.
Officer-in-charge of Savar Model Police Station Kazi Mainul Islam told New Nation that one person has already been arrested for being involved in the incident. The accused will be sent to court today. Attempts are being made to arrest the rest. The girl will be sent to the One-Stop Crisis Center of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical examination.
