Police rescued a girl eight days after she was allegedly kidnapped in Sylhet on early Sunday.
Police also arrested the alleged kidnapper, Akhter Hossain, 35, of Gulni Tea Garden area at Fatehpur under Gowainghat in Sylhet.
Locals said that Akhter kidnapped a 12-year-old girl on July 27 and since then he had been missing.
The Gowainghat police inspector (investigation) Hillol Roy told that the victim’s guardian filed a general diary with the police after she was kidnapped.
‘A raid was conducted at a house of Gulni Tea Garden area on Sunday early morning and the kidnapped girl was rescued from the house,’ the police officer said.
The alleged kidnapper was also arrested at the house in the same drive, he added.
He informed that the victim was admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for medical tests and treatment.
‘The arrested was produced before a judicial magistrate’s court in the afternoon after filing a case in this regard and the court ordered to send him to jail,’ police said.
