A madrasa girl has reportedly been raped by a young man in Katakhali of Rajshahi city.
Besides, the victim, a Class-IX student, and her mother have been beaten for not agreeing to the decision of a mediation session to settle the issue.
Meanwhile, police have assured to take action after a case was filed in this regard.
Police said Shahinur, a neighbour of the victim, raped her on October 9 last when she was alone at her home.
When the matter came to the light, Shahinur, a truck driver, was beaten 10 times with a shoe and fined Tk 30,000.
However, arbitrators reportedly beat the victim and her mother as they did not accept the settlement.
Later, the victim’s mother filed a case with Katakhali Police Station on Tuesday night in this regard.
Officer-in-charge of the police station M Zillur Rahman said the girl was sent to the one-stop crisis centre of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for medical test.
He also said they trying to arrest the accused.
