Girl missing from TSC rescued from N’ganj

A nine-year-old florist, who was missing for the last seven days, has been rescued from Narayanganj by the Detective Branch of Police.
A team of detectives also detained a woman named Lopa Talukder during a drive at Amtola Panchaboti area, said Mahbub Alam, joint commissioner of Detective Branch of Dhaka Mefropoliton Police, on Tuesay.
The nine-year-old girl, Zinia, was rescued at around 1am on Tuesday from a house of Amtola area of Narayanganj, said DB Police Additional Deputy Commissioner (Ramna) Mishu Biswas.
“The woman lured the girl with the promise of giving
her beautiful dresses, food, and residence. The girl was told that she was being taken for a walk. After the abduction, Zinia hid at Lopa’s sister’s house in Narayanganj” said ADC Mishu. The woman is a drug-addict, added the ADC.
On the other hand the court has remanded Lopa Talukder for two days in connection with the abduction of Zinia and placed Zinia in the custody of her mother.
Zinia used to live with her mother and two siblings in TSC area. She is a common face at the TSC area in Dhaka University, where she used to sell flowers to support her family. According to a witness and Zinia’s mother, she was eating chatpati with two strangers when her mother saw her last. They asked her mother for permission to take her with them but she didn’t respond and walked away. As she returned ten minutes later, Zinia was nowhere to be found. they took the girl away with them.
The distressed mother said, “If I ever get my daughter back, we will return to our hometown and will never come back to this city.” Earlier, her elder sister also went missing who was found 11 years late. Soon after the girl’s disappearance, students of Dhaka University as well as different socio-cultural and political organisation were demanding that she be rescued immediately.
