An eve-teaser killed a female SSC (Secondary School Certificate) examinee for the next year with a sharp sword in broad-day light while she was walking on the railway truck in the city’s Gopibagh area on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Sharmin Akter, 16, daughter of Abdus Sattar, of K M Dash Lane in the capital, said Mohammad Farid Uddin, Deputy Commissioner of Wari Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Locals nabbed the 25-year old alleged attacker
Sohel and handed him to police by giving a good lesson. He was sent Dhaka Medical College and Hospital under police custody, police official said.
Sohel attacked Sharmin with sword from the behind and she fall down on the railway line around 3:30pm, the DC said.
Sohel had been harassing Sharmin for few months as she rejected the love proposal, he said quoting the deceased family members.
A case was filed with the Wari Police Station in this connection, according to him .
The body has been sent to the Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital.
