A girl went missing and two other people were injured as a pickup van plunged into a river breaking railing of a bridge on the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway in Chandanaish upazila early Sunday.
The missing girl was identified as Hanifa Begum, 14, a resident of Maheshkhali.
The injured were the driver and the helper of the pickup van.
Fire service sources said the accident took place on the Dohazari Bridge when the pickup van slewed sideways and plunged into the Sangu river breaking the railing around 3:30, leaving the girl missing and two other people injured.
On information, a fire fighting unit from Satkania rushed to the spot.
Inspector Shahadat Hossain of Satkania fire service station confirmed the incident.
