A 17-year old girl was allegedly gang-raped by some unidentified youths in Moulvibazar district’s Kulaura Upazila on Monday night. The criminals captured the rape scene on mobile phone. Victim is now under treatment in Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.
In this regards, police detained a youth from Kulaura Upazila town in the district on Tuesday.
On charge of raping the girl, capturing video, the rapists are threatening her if she does not respond again, then they will release the video on the internet by blackmailing her. The OC requested the journalists not to disclose the youth’s name at this moment.
Victim said, Sukur Ali, 30, son of Abdullah in Gourisankar village in Kulaura Upazila of Moulvibazar called her to come to Kulaura Municipal premises. When I come he took me by a CNG though I refused several times. In the last moment I boarded the CNG and saw other six unknown youths. Then CNG moved from the spot and they caught me and tied my mouth with handkerchief.
Victin’s mother said quoting victim, later they took our daughter in jungle and raped her again and again and took video. They also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter to anyone. They are also threatening to circulate the video footage on internet in case she failed to convince her daughter for sexual relationship again.
After gang-raped they took the girl from jungle and fell her in Kulaura Rail Station area in early Tuesday. In the mean time some local admitted her to Kulaura Health Complex. After rescue, the girl narrated her mother about the matter.
The tortured girl said in her statement that during the rape, miscreants kept watching on mobile phones and threatened not to say anyone. The tortured girl could only recognize Shukur Ali. Shukur Ali and CNG auto-rickshaw driver were involved in rape.
Victim’s brother said, victim was working in Sylhet as a home maid. She came to village home for Pahela Boishakh.
Program Officer Aman Ullah of One Stop Crisis Center in Kulaura Health Complex told I informed the matter to Kulaura Police Station and took the statement of the victim. She is from poor family. In addition to sexual abuse, she was physically tortured.
Victim had been sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital for better treatment, he added.
Kulaura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ferdous Hasan said that Kulaura police are trying to stoke the people involved in the incident. The suspect is being detained and interrogated. However, it will be immediately identified with those involved in the incident and will be arrested. The case is preparing.
