A girl drowned in Sangu river at Chandanaish upazila of Chittagong on Monday.
The dead is Taslima Khatun, 10, a student of class-IV, four, daughter of an expatriate Md Selim of Diakul village in the upazila, said Md Idris, senior station officer of Satkania Fire Service.
Idris said she was catching shrimps with her friends at the bank of the river near their house around 12:00noon on Sunday.
Suddenly, she slept and fell into the river, said Idris. As locals failed to rescue her, Some divers yesterday morning recovered the body.
