A college girl allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday night by hanging herself with the ceiling fan in their residence following misunderstanding with the family members over Eid Shopping in the city’s Shahjadpur area. The deceased has been identified as Jerin Islam Bristi, 17, who hailed from Kaliganj upazila in Jhenaidah district, police said. Quoting the family members, Gulshan Police Station’s Sub-Inspector (SI) Sabbir Rahman confirmedthe tragedy and said that Bristi committed suicide with a scurf.He said that, Bristi demanded Tk 8000 for Eid Shopping, but her family was not in a position to meet her demand instantly which made the girl angry and upset.A police official said that the police recovered the body and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy.
