Ghuddi to be screened on Asad’s birthday

The six times National Film Award winner actor Raisul Islam Asad’s birthday is today. After one day of his birthday Asian Cinema Retrospective’ will begin. Not only this, the festival will be kicked off by Asad acted and Syed Salauddin Zaki directed movie Ghuddi at Digital Cultural Archive Room of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) on July 16. Asad is very much delighted in this regard.
While talking in this regard Raisul Islam Asad told this correspondent, “I am informed about the festival. I am also informed that by my acted movie the festival will be kicked off. But I always obey my wife Tahira Dil Afroz Mukur’s comment. She told me not to go any gather place. So despite having interest I will not be able to attend the opening ceremony of Asian Cinema Retrospective. I have no other option.”
While asking him how he would celebrate his birthday he replied, “I never celebrate my birthday. I always try to celebrate the day silently. Everybody pray for me as I can remain well.”
Raisul Islam Asad started his acting career in 1972 in theatre and TV plays. But he started his acting career in big screen by late Khan Ataur Rahman’s movie Abar Tora Manush Ho in 1973. Later he acted in 50 movies including Salauddin Zaki’s Ghuddi (1980), Syed Hasan Imam’s Lal Sabujer Pala (1981), Kajol Arefin’s Suruj Mia (1984), etc.
Asad got the National Film Awards for six times for movies Padma Nodir Majhi, Annyo Jibon, Lal Shalu, Dukhai, Ghani and Mrittikamaya.
