Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain on Saturday said that the two lawmakers of his party may take oath and join the 11th Parliament session.
Dr Kamal’s statement gave new development in the political arena what the nation was expecting, neutral observers said. His decision was heard in a press briefing of his party’s extended meeting at the Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad.
“We’ve rejected the election, but the way our two candidates came out successful in such an election through competition is theirbig achievement. So, we’re thinking positively about sending them to the Parliament,” he said.
He thinks that it will not create any problem with its alliance partner BNP, which has already decided not to join the Parliament.
Dr Kamal said, their two MPs can play a positive role in the Parliament after taking the oath.
He, said that the Jatiya Oikyafront would remain intact to create pressure on the government.
Gono Forum candidate and former DUCSU Vice President Sultan Mohammad Monsur was elected MP as the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ candidate from Moulvibazar-2, and Mukabbir Khan won with the party’s ‘Rising Sun’ symbol.
Asked whether Monsur’s election win with a ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ symbol could cause issues with the BNP, Kamal said he did not believe it would. Replying to a question, the Gono Forum president said that they might go to the court with the election issue if they get the evidence of serious allegation of vote frauds.
