The High Court on Thursday gave the responsibility to lawyers concerned for an amicable settlement to the domestic disputes between Bangladesh-born US citizen Imran Sharif and his wife Japanese national Eriko Nakano, as they could not reach any solution.
Imran Sharif’s Senior lawyer Rokanuddin Mahmud and Eriko Nakano’s lawyer Mohammad Shishir Manir have been asked to meet and discuss for an agreeable solution to the issue through mutual understanding and compromise by September 28.
During hearing a writ petition, the HC also ruled that Eriko and Imran will stay with their daughters, Nakano Jasmine Malika (11) and Nakano Laila Lina (9), on every alternative day at the Gulshan residence in Dhaka, where they are now staying.
Eriko will stay with the children from 8.00am on September 17 (tomorrow) till 8.00am on September 18 (Saturday) and Imran will stay with the children from 8.00am on September 18 for the next 24 hours.
They will stay with their daughters this way, alternatively, till September 28, the HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman said.
The bench asked Eriko to pay half of the expenses of the rented residence and other issues to the account of Imran Sharif immediately. The HC bench also
fixed September 28 for further hearing and delivering order on this issue.
Earlier on August 31, the HC bench directed the authorities concerned to shift the two children of Imran and Eriko to a residence at capital’s Gulshan from the victim support to ensure their welfare and a family environment for them.
Eriko Nakano, a doctor from Tokyo in Japan, arrived in Bangladesh on July 18 this year, and filed a writ petition with the High Court on August 19 seeking a directive on her husband Imran Sharif to get custody of her daughters.
Eriko Nakano, in the petition, said that she and Sharif got married on July 11, 2008 in Japan under Japanese law. They have three daughters Nakano Jasmine Malika (11), Nakano Laila Lina (9) and Nakano Sonia Hana (7).
