Germany is eager to work with Bangladesh through German development agency GIZ in areas like textiles and higher education to produce high quality skilled manpower for socio-economic development of the country, said a press release.
Christian von Mitzlaff, Programme Coordinator, German-Bangladesh Higher Education Network on Sustainable Textiles conveyed the interest of the German government as he called on University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh Chairman Professor Abdull Mannan at the latter’s office on Monday.
The German official said GIZ is also willing to train the faculty members of the textiles universities to enhance the quality of teaching-learning and research at tertiary level.
During the meeting, the UGC chairman and the German official also stressed the need for establishing academic and research collaboration among the higher educational institutions of Bangladesh and Germany.
The Chairman of UGC observed that University Grants Commission always welcomes any assistance and cooperation from donor country for enhancement and internationalization of higher education. He added that teaching and learning process of textile education need to be modernized to meet the demand of the country’s skilled manpower.
