Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chittagong Mohammad Zillur Rahman Chowdhury underscored the need for ensuring gender equality in all development activities. He said “Government is implementing all programs and rules as per the constitution.”
Addressing the rally on awareness on gender held at the Asian SR Hotel in the port city on Wednesday morning as chief guest, Zillur Rahman Chowdhury said the females should not be undermined. “The government directed us to ensure the gender equality in all development activities of the country.”
The program was arranged by the LGRD in association with European Union as part of the Activate the Village Court program in Bangladesh. The Deputy Director of DC office in Chittagong Mohammed Noab Ali chaired the function while UNDP District Facilitator Ujjal Kumar Dhar moderated the function.
Gender Specialist of UNDP Kamrunnesa Ali addre-ssed the function as special guest. Among others, Assistant Commissioner Ujala Rani Chakma, UNO Depok Kumar Roy, Najmul Islam Bhuiyan, Mohammad Mahabub Alam, Asif Imtiaj, Upazila Porishad Vice Chairmen Najmun-nahar Chowdhury Nely, Golshan Ara Begum, District women’s Affairs officer Anjana Bhatta-chariya, Mohila Porishad President Latifa Kabir, journalist Ranjit Shil, women’s leaders Begum Rehena Ferdous Chowd-hury, Jesmin sultana Paru, Atia Chowdhury, Utpal Barua, Shishir Dutta, Taslima Akhter, Moha-mmad Jahed Chowdhury addressed the function.
