Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad and Executive Chairperson of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has said gender equality is crucial for any country’s development.
“It is not possible to ensure sustainable development keeping aside half the manpower … So, it is important to bring women in the main stream of developmental process minimizing gender disparity,” she said.
She was speaking as a panel speaker at an interactive dialogue titled, “Tackling inequality, empowering women and girls and leaving no one behind” in New York on Friday, said a press release.
