Gemcon Khulna got Mashrafe Bin Mortaza for the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup Cricket on Sunday. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) arranged a lottery to decide which team will get Mashrafe Bin Mortaza in the five-team shorter version cricket competition, which is getting underway at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Gemcon Khulna have got Mashrafe Bin Mortaza in their squad from the lottery.
A total of four teams took part in the lottery. Gamcon Khulna, Fortune Barishal, Beximco Dhaka and Minister Group Rajshahi took part in the lottery.
Earliter, Gemcon Khulna recruited Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah Riyad, Shafiul Islam, Al-Amin Hossain.
It may be mentioned that Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, the Narail Express is a man from Khulna Division. So, Gemcon Khulna are highly delighted to get Mashrafe in their out-fit.
Khulna are now in the title race. So, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza will be a weapon for Gemcon Khulna.
The 37 year’s old former captain of Bangladesh Cricket (ODI) team has recently recovered from hamstring injury. Besides, Mashrafe became well after suffering from coronavirus.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said, ” This morning I took part in a fitness test organized by BCB. I have passed the fitness test. After that, according to the rules of BCB, my team is finalized.”
Regarding the former captain’s fitness test, BCB trainer Tushar Kanti Hawlader said, “Mashrafe took part in the fitness test this morning. He has passed. Now there is no obstacle for him to play in the tournament.”
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza last played in his international match against Zimbabwe last March. After that he was almost out of cricket for nine months. After Zimbabwe’s match, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza quit from his captaincy.
BCB put up players in four categories for the players’ draft with the price range for Grade A players fixed Tk 15 lakh, Grade B Tk 10 lakh, while Grade C Tk 6 lakh and Grade D Tk 4 lakh.
