GDP growth to cross 8pc in this fiscal: Kamal

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Tuesdayday hoped that the GDP growth rate in the current fiscal year (FY19) would cross 8 percent.
“The way Bangladesh is moving ahead, the country is poised to become the 5th Asian Tiger as per the research findings of the World Economic Forum and Business Insider. We will attain over 8 percent GDP growth at the end of this fiscal,” he said.
The Planning Minister said this while addressing a workers meeting of Bangladesh Chattra League held in Cumilla today, said a ministry press release.
He also mentioned that Bangladesh would leave behind countries like South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Iraq, and Columbia in terms of Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) by the year 2041. “We will steer ahead the country towards the developed nation status by the year 2041 through materializing the dream of building ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation through supporting our Prime Minister,” he added.
AHM Mustafa Kamal, commonly known as Lotus Kamal, also urged the workers of BCL to work for the country and its people with utmost devotion and dedication keeping aside their personal interest.
He also called upon all party workers, including the activists of BCL, to work for ‘boat’, the election symbol of Awami League, in the next general election to help retain power for the 3rd consecutive term. Chaired by Cumilla Sadar dakshin upazila BCL convenor M Ayatullah, Cumilla Sadar dakshin upazila parishad chairman Golam Sarwar, Lalmai upazila parishad chairman Abdul Malek, district AL vice president Shahadat Hossain Taslim, Lalmai upazila vice chairman Mizan Mazumder, addressed, among others, at the meeting.
