The authorities have imposed restriction on plying of different types of vehicles in Gazipur from June 24 midnight to June 26 midnight ahead of the Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) polls.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges made the announcement in a press release on Tuesday afternoon. The restriction has been imposed on plying of auto-rickshaws, microbuses, jeeps, pick-ups, cars, buses, trucks, and human haulers, the release said.
The restriction has also been imposed on plying of motorcycles from June 23 midnight to June 26 midnight.
However, the restriction will be relaxed for the candidates in the city polls, their agents, and local and foreign election observers upon permission from the returning officer.
Vehicles for election officials, law enforcement agencies and emergency services will be out of purview of the restriction, the release added.
The concerned district administration has been empowered to enforce the restriction.
