UNB, Gazipur :Police have pressed charges against detained Gazipur City Corporation mayor MA Mannan and five local BNP leaders and activists in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act.Joydevpur thana police submitted charge sheet before the Gazipur Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Thursday, said Rabiul Islam, inspector of Gazipur Court, on Sunday.Judge Begum Abeda Sultana sent the charge sheet to the District and Session’s Judge Court fixing May 19 for next hearing, he said.Around 10-12 miscreants blasted crude bombs at Jor Pukurpar in the city on September 2 last year. Bachchu Miah, sub-inspector of Joydevpur Police Station, filed a case in this connection.On April 30 this year, police submitted a charge sheet against the detained Gazipur city corporation mayor and 43 local BNP leaders and activists in another violence case filed last year.On February 11, 2015, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested Mannan from his Baridhara residence in the capital in connection with the burning of a bus after hurling a petrol bomb on February 4.
