Liberation War Affairs Minister A K M Mozammel Haque said ‘Gazipur Unnayan Kartripakkha’ law will be passed in the parliament soon for the development of the city in a planned way.
“Taka 8,000 crore has been approved for the development of Gazipur. To enhance the capability of Gazipur City Corporation, recruitment activities are going on for 3500 manpower,” he said.
He stated this on Thursday while addressing, as the chief guest, a roundtable on “Challenge to the development of modern Gazipur and what to do: role of public representative and professionals” arranged by Gazipur Unnayan Parishad at Jatiya Press Club VIP lounge.
The minister said road communication system is being modernized by constructing necessary flyovers and drainage facilities under the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) project to ease the communication between Dhaka and Gazipur.
To lessen pressure on Dhaka-Gazipur highway, alternative route will be built and link and bypass roads will be constructed to get rid of traffic jam, he said adding that proper steps will be taken for proper waste management, protection of forests and rivers.
Member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Labour and Employment and Gazipur Unnayan Parishad Adviser Shamsunnahar Bhuiyan chaired the meeting.
