Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League: Gazi Tank post massive win

Ashar Zayedi hit a brilliant ton saw Gazi Tank Cricketers to post an overwhelming 247 runs victory over Old DOHS SC in the first round of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Tuesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city.
Chasing a winning target of 358 runs set by Gazi Tank, Old DOHS found the chase very stiff losing wickets in regular intervals and finally dismissed at a paltry total of 110 in 41.5 overs.
Wicket keeper Ehsanul Haque top scored for DOHS with 26 runs followed by Al Amin (12) and Shehan Jayasuriya (12) after Old DOHS failed to build any effective partnership in the face of tight bowling attacks by the Gazi Tank bowlers.
Former national color Alok Kapali was the pick of Gazi Tank bowler taking three wickets for 20 runs. He was well supported by Sharif Ullah and Shohid who bagged two wickets apiece conceding 9 and 14 runs respectively.
Put to bat first, Gazi Tank amassed a massive total of 357 for 6 from their allotted 50 overs.
Second down batsman Ashar Zayedi played an impressive innings of 141 runs off 103-ball hitting 18 boundaries and three over boundaries before he was stumped by wicket keeper Ehsanul Haque off Shehan Jayasuriya delivery. An apple support also came from the bat of opener Jahurul Islam who supported him with a priceless 78-ball off 91-run with the help of 8 boundaries and one over boundary.
Later, Abul Hasan (35 n.o) and Faisal Hossain (16) played a hurricane knock that helped to Gazi Tank to set a massive target in front of Old DOHS SC.
Abul hammered three over boundaries and one boundary during his 17-ball unbeaten stay on the crease while Faisal smashed two boundaries off only 12-ball.
Shehan Jayasuriya and Abu Jayed were the pick of Old DOHS bowler taking two wickets each for 66 and 74 runs respectively.
