Defending champions Gazi Tank Cricketers tasted the third successive victory in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) beating Kalabagan Krira Chakra by seven wickets in a match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.
Replying to 205 runs, Gazi Tank Cricketers (Legends of Rupganj) reached the target scoring 208 runs for 3 wickets in 47.3 overs despite an early jolt, losing opener Jahurul Islam (9) for 25 runs in 6.2 overs.
Opening batsman Junaid Siddique partnering with one down Mosharraf Hossain scored 79 runs in 23.4 overs in the second wicket stand to repair the early damage, before Junaid was caught by Sri Lankan Jehan Mubarak off Shahadat Hossain leaving team total at 104 for 2 in 30 overs.
After the departure of number three batsmen Mosharraf Hossain with team score 113 runs in 32.4 overs, skipper Alok Kapali pairing with Azhar Zaidi contributed another 95 runs in 14.5 overs in the 4th wicket stand.
Kapali made unbeaten half century scoring 51 runs off 53 balls with three fours and a six while Junaid Siddique made another half century, also scoring 51 runs off 85 balls with five fours.
Zaidi smashed unbeaten 46 runs off 43 balls with four fours and two sixes while Mosharraf Hossain scored 45 runs off 88 balls with four fours.
Shahadat Hossain grabbed two wickets for 39 runs in 9 overs while Rakibul Hasan took one wicket for 55 runs in 10 overs.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Kalabagan KC scored 205 for all in 48.2 overs.
Skipper Shamsur Rahman Shuvo scored team highest 77 runs off 105 balls with eight fours. Tasamul Haque (27), Jupiter Ghosh (24), Fariduddin Masud (20) and Jehan Mubarak (17) were the other double digit scorers for Kalabagan KC.
Shahid claimed three wickets for 34 runs in 9.2 overs; Mosharraf Hossain also grabbed three wickets for 45 runs in 9 overs while Sharif Ullah took one wicket for 30 runs in 8 overs.
In the days other league matches, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club beat Victoria Sporting Club by 6 wickets at BKSP-3 in Savar while Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club defeated Abahani Ltd by 6 runs at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
