Under the joint initiative taken by Channel i and Sharif Melamine an exceptional musical serial is being made to focus on life and activities of Ekushey Award winner noted film director, producer, storywriter, distributor and lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar.
Under the direction of Jamal Reza, the programme titled Palki is being prepared with thousand songs of Gazi Mazharul Anwar in serial basis. Only Gazi Mazhraul Anwar written songs will be presented in the programme those will be rendered by singers of present time. Recording of the songs has started.
Rizia Parvin, Polash, Monir Khan, Dithi Anwar and Apu will render songs of Gazi Mazharul Anwar in ‘Palki.’ In the programme, singers of Close Up 1 and Sherakontho will also perform later.
On July 19, first episode of Palki is scheduled to be aired. During recording of the programme Gazi Mazharul tried to be present.
While talking about the programme Gazi Mazharul Anwar told this correspondent, “There are a huge number of melodious songs in our country. If we do not take steps to preserve these songs properly, one day these will be surely lost. I give thanks to Channel i and Sharif Melamine to come forward in this regard. By their initiatives future generation can get the scope to remember these songs in the long run.”
Gazi Mazharul Anwar got the National Film Award for five times. He got the Ekushey Award in 2002. He got the first President Gold Medal for his contribution in the War of Independence of Bangladesh. In BBC survey, his written three songs took place in 20 best songs. These songs are: Joy Bangla Banglar Joy, Ektara tui desher kotha and Ekbar jete de na aamar chotto Sonargai.
