Legendary lyricist, producer, director and storywriter Gazi Mazharul Anwar passed away
on September 4. In memory
of the legend, a memorial meeting was organised at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in
the capital’s Segunbagicha area
on Monday evening.
Jointly organised by BSA and Lyricists Association of Bangfladesh, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest in the memorial meeting. Zohra Gazi, Gazi Mazharul Anwar’s wife, Liaquat Ali Lucky, DG of BSA, Liton Adhikary Rintu, acting President of Lyricists’ Association of Banglades, and renowned lyricist, Mohammad Rafiquzzaman, Dithi Anwar and Upal, Gazi Mazharul Anwar’s children, Gazi Abdul Hakim, among many other noted personalities were present in the meeting.
Therefore, noted singers Khurshid Alam, Rafiqul Alam, Abida Sultana, Ustad Yakub Ali Khan, Kumar Bishwajit, Naquib Khan, Robi Chowdhury, Foad Nasser Babu, musician, Shahidullah Farazi, noted lyricist, Asif Iqbal, General Secretary of Lyricists’ Association, and Zulfiqer Russell, lyricist, were also attended the function.
Hosted by singer Joy Shahriar, at the end of the programme, Khurshid Alam, Monir Khan, Anupama Mukti, Champa Banik, Apu Aman, Pulak, Yousuf and Dithi Anwar rendered songs on the occasion.
