Gazi Group Cricketers shared the top slot in the Walton Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket with holders Dhaka Abahani Limited after beating Prime Bank Cricket Club by five wickets in the 3rd round super league match at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on the reserved day on Wednesday.
After the day’s match, both the Abahani Limited and Gazi Group Cricketers have secured 22 points each from 14 matches, but in the net run rate Abahani Limited topped the list.
The 3rd round match between the two teams, which was stopped in the very first over on the scheduled day on Tuesday due to rain, was shifted to the reserved day as per the by-laws. At that time, Prime Bank CC lost one wicket without any run in the 4th ball of the match.
After the departure of opener Mehedi Maruf in the very first ball with duck on Tuesday, another opener Shahnaj Ahmed pairing with one down Zakir Hasan repaired the early damage on Wednesday morning scoring 90 runs in 20.1 overs in the 2nd wicket stand.
Shahnaj Ahmed contributed 54 runs off 75 balls featuring one four and two sixes, Zakir Hasan scored 63-ball 47 runs with four fours and one six, middle order Asif Ahmed made 27-ball 20 runs with two boundaries while Taibur Rahman scored 23-ball 20 runs with two fours.
Indian Gurkeerat Singh and Abu Haider grabbed three wickets each conceding 27 and 32 runs while skipper Nasir Hossain took two for 42 runs.
In reply, Gazi Group Cricketers faced no trouble to score match-winning 177 runs for the loss of five wickets in 38.4 overs.
National all rounder Nasir Hossain, who guided Gazi Group Cricketers to beat Sheikh Jamal DC in the previous match hammering a polished 134 runs last Saturday, today also led the team towards victory scoring an unbeaten 61 runs off 64 balls featuring nine boundaries and was adjudged the man of the match.
Besides, one down Mominul Haque scored 41-ball 33 runs with two sixes, national coloured opener Anamul Haque made 52-ball 45 runs with three sixes, Nadiuf Chowdhury added 18 runs off 36 balls including one six.
Nahidul Islam bagged two wicket for 29 runs while Al Amin Hossain,Nazrul Islam and Taibur Rahman took one wicket each.
