Senior Secretary of Public Administration Ministry Mozammel Haque Khan on Thursday said, the gazette on quota for public service recruitment will be published in due time.
Replying to a question on whether quota for all kinds of jobs will be cancelled or not, the secretary said that anything could be said in this subject only after getting clear directives. Details will be specified in the gazette, he said.
Earlier yesterday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina spoke of scrapping the quota system in public service examination and asked agitating students to return home and drop their movement.
Her statement comes amid countrywide students’ demonstrations for reforms of the quota system.
Protesters demonstrating for a fundamental reform in the quota system for civil service have called off their agitation on Thursday after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said there would be no more quota.
