UNB, Dhaka :
Voicing doubt about timely holding of the next general election, BNP senior leader Gayeshwar Chandra on Monday said there is no alternative to ousting the Sheikh Hasina-led government through a movement.
“The next general election is uncertain as Sheikh Hasina still could not assure any local and international power that she’ll be able to stage a comeback

from field by holding another January-5 like election,” he said.
Speaking at a discussion programme, he further said “We’ve no alternative but to wage a strong movement to ensure the fall of the current government.”
Gayeshwar, a BNP standing committee member, said the current government’s days are numbered no matter whether BNP is returning to power or not.
He warned that BNP might not be able to take the situation under its favour after the fall of the Awami League-led government if it fails to make visible its role before people in ousting the regime.
Speaking at the programme, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said it is imperative to ensure the fall of Sheikh Hasina for holding a credible election.
He also said the current Chief Election Commissioner is a partisan people and no fair election is possible under him.
The BNP leader came down hard on Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader describing him as a “Mockery Man”.
“Awami League’s political culture is to show vindictive attitude towards its opponents and spread lies about them at all time. Donald Trump (US President) described the North Korean ruler as a ‘Rocket Man. In Bangladesh, the Prime Minister and her Mockery Man Obaidul Quader are introducing all types of bad culture,” he observed.
Rizvi also alleged that Quader has been working as an active hawker in establishing all the ‘misdeeds’ of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as truth.
He said though Quader is claming that the condition of roads and highways are very good, basically all those are in a bad shape. “It means people will have to believe exactly the opposite to Quader’s assertion to find the truth.”
