Gayeshwar put on fresh remand

A Dhaka court yesterday (Tuesday) placed Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on a two-day fresh remand in a case filed with Turag Police Station under the Special Power Act 1974.
Magistrate Rezaul Karim of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order after he was shown arrested in the case on completion of another three-day remand in a case filed with
 Shahbagh Police Station in connection with attack on Awami League’s Netrokona-1 MP Chhabi Biswas on the premises of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Detective Branch (DB) of police produced Gayeshwar to the court with a 10-day remand plea after completion of the three-day remand in the case filed over Wednesday’s violence in the city’s Bakshibazar area.
Police earlier showed Gayeshwar arrested in the case filed with Shahbagh Police Station on charge of the attack on ruling party’s Netrakona-1 MP Chhabi Biswas on the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital premises. Earlier on Friday, police picked him up from his house in the city’s Siddheshwari area and DB Police took him to their office.
