Bangladesh Railway has suspended Joypurhat’s Puranapoil Rail Station gateman over Saturday’s bus-train collision that left 12 people dead.
Sumon Ali was suspended temporarily, Joypurhat railway station master Md Habibur Rahman confirmed on Sunday.
On Saturday, two separate bodies were formed to probe into the accident.
A Rajshahi-bound train of ‘Uttara Express’ hit a Hili-bound bus at Puranapoil Rail Station in Sadar upazila of the district at 6:55am and took it away 500 metres away from the rail line, leaving 12 dead and three others injured.
The level-crossing was open but the gateman was absent there, Deputy Commissioner Md Shariful Islam alleged.
He also said during primary investigation, it was known that negligence of gateman Sumon was found behind the tragic accident.
