The Special Judge Court-3 of Dhaka yesterday (Monday) deferred the hearing on the charge, framing in Gatco graft case against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and 16 others to August 22.
Judge Abu Syed Diljar Hossain of the court fixed the new date on Monday.
Earlier, the court fixed yesterday for charge hearing in the case but, the jail authorities could not produce Khaleda Zia in the court as she was ill, and now in
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). On September 2, 2007, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Golam Shahriar Chowdhury filed the Gatco graft case against Khaleda Zia, and 12 others. Later, on May 13, 2008, the anti-graft watchdog ACC submitted the charge-sheet of the case against Khaleda Zia and 23 others in the case.
Meanwhile, seven accused including Khaleda Zia’s younger son Arafat Rahman Koko, were dropped from the charge sheet after their deaths.
