Gas supply for industrialisation in Rangpur region demanded

Leaders of Samaj Paribartan O Unnayan Forum (SPUF) has submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Divisional Commissioner demanding natural gas supply for industrialisation of Rangpur region.
Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Dilwar Bakht received the memorandum at his office from leaders of SPUF, led by its Rangpur divisional unit President SM Piyal on Monday afternoon.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Narayan Chandra Barma and high officials of the divisional administration were present.
Adviser of Rangpur divisional unit of SPUF Advocate M A Basher Tipu, its General Secretary Shahidul Islam Bablu, Treasurer Humayun Kabir Manik, Office and Publicity Secretary Mominul Islam Ripan were present.
General Secretary of Rangpur district unit of SPUF Zillur Rahman, President of its district women unit Rita Begum, President of its Mahiganj unit Md Aziz Ullah, members M Zobaer Panna, Zahid Hassan and Ramzan Ali Babu were also present.
After submitting the memorandum, leaders of SPUF explained their arguments justifying their demand for gas supply through pipelines to enhance industrialisation and economic uplifts of the economically backward Rangpur region.
They said the people of Rangpur and their uniform developments have been overlooked in the pasts and proper time has come now to eradicate all sorts of discriminations and achieve just rights and developments of this economically backward region.
Without supply of natural gas, there would be no industrialisation and employment of the unemployed youths including young girls for real development of the region to build a middle income digital Bangladesh.
They said supply of natural gas would enhance setting up of fertiliser factories, ginger processing factories, jute mills, spare parts production factories, milk processing and dairy and garment factories and other industries in Rangpur region to boost economy.
They called upon the Members of the Parliament of the region to come forward with an unequivocal voice for ensuring natural gas supply to Rangpur region and hoped that the present government will positively materialize the demand at the earliest.
