Gas leakage caused 1,000 accidents last year: Fire Service

The gas pipeline is getting damaged due o the development work and repairing of the lines of the service providers in the capital, Fire Service official said.
According to Fire Service, in 2019, Gas leakage was responsible for about one thousand accidents.
Recently, Gas pipeline was damaged while working on MRT project at least four times in house building area of Uttara in the capital.
WASA line, or the Metrorail project, or other development works were behind the damage of the gas pipeline on main road at Shewrapara, Farmgate and Demra in the capital recently. According to Titas, since 2019, more than 25 large gas leaks occurred due to the clash with other service

companies. There are more than one hundred such minor incidents.
According to Urban planners, Accidents happen again and again due to lack of coordination among service providers. They are advised to depend on modern technology mapping to prevent accidents.
Urban planner Habibur Rahman said there is a technology called GPS leader system. Service providers can map among them through the system.
Meanwhile, the gas pipeline is being damaged due to the negligence of Titas. The Narayanganj mosque blast was the latest example. On September 4, A massive explosion happened from gas leakage at Baitus Salat Jam’e Mosque in Paschim Talla area of Fatulla under Narayanganj Sadar upazila.
Around 40 people were injured in the blast. 37 were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Of them, 33 people dead.
Experts say to prevent leakage-related accidents; there is no alternative to survey the Titus line. Experts suggest to replace the 30-40 years old gas pipe lines.
