Serious gas crisis has hit different areas of the capital city sent the homemakers into deep troubles as they cannot cook daily meals in time. City’s Gandaria, Jurain, Dayagonj, Sayedabad, Jatrabari, Dhalpur, Wari, Lalbagh, Bakhsibazar, Jigatola, Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur and several parts of old Dhaka and Mirpur, Uttara and adjacent areas have been suffering from gas crisis round the clock for past several days.
City dwellers nowadays used to bring cooked food from restaurants for gas crisis. Many families have started cooking early in the morning for preparing meals while there is no possibility of getting gas on the burners. Due the ongoing gas crisis, affected people are compelled to bring gas cylinders home though it is too expensive. In the meantime, buying cylinder gas has created extra pressure on us.
Managing Director of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited has admitted the crisis saying that the crisis began due to usual winter time disorder. He said a gas well has been disrupted. The transmission company said they are working with their utmost capacity to overcome the crisis. Apart from food preparing, elderly people and children suffering in cold are in dire conditions due to lack of warm water.
We must say Titas Gas should come up with fuel aid in the affected area without any delay. As the hospitals and care centre in the affected areas in worse situation, the authorities should take alternative measures. Titas could not avoid their responsibilities. As the crisis happens every winter, we recommend alternative plan and arrangement for the city dwellers.
