Exports of readymade garments from Bangladesh registered double-digit decline in the first month of current fiscal, according to data from the Export Promotion Bureau.
In July 2016, Bangladesh earned US$2117.58m from garment exports, showing a decrease of 23.60 percent compared to exports of $2215.16m made in the corresponding, the data showed.
The overall export performance for the period is $2534.31million with the 24.93 percent drop against the target of $3376m.
However, according to the industry insiders, the reason behind the decline is Eid vacation and barrio of in the Dhaka-Ctg highways.
The government imposed ban of movement of cargoes in the highways across the country citing traffic jam problems after and before the holly Eid.

Likewise, exports of woven apparel dipped by 29.65 per cent to $1040.35m during the month, compared to exports of $16207.00m during July 2015.
