A Half- day hartal called by the Ganojaran Mancha was passed off peacefully in the port city without any occurrences yesterday.
 The hartal was called protesting the arrest of the killers of bloggers and publishers across the country. The hartal enforced from 6 am to 12 noon without any incidents. Plying of transports and the business activities in the port city was as usual without any resistance.
 The educational institutions were closed during the hartal period and the ongoing JSC and JDC examinations rescheduled from 2pm instead of 10 am. Besides, the admission test in Chittagong University was out of purview of the haral.
Additional deputy police commissioner Arefin Jewel told that the movement of transport was normal and the limited buses in long routes left the station but after end of the hartal hour, the bus schedule became normal.
 In support of the hartal, a procession towards Chergi Pahar, the precisionists ransacked a business centre owned by death row convict in WC Mir Kashem Ali but the Convenor of the GJM Sharif Chowhan denied the allegations of ransacking or hurling stones towards Keari Building.
In support of haral, street rally arranged at Anderkilla Crossing, Press Club premises, Cheragi Pahar, Pabartak and Laldighi crossing in the moring, eye witnesses sources said.
