Joynal Abedin Khan :Another female garment worker was allegedly gang-raped inside a running bus of Binimoy Paribahan by its staff on the Tangail-Mymensingh Highway under Madhupur upazila of Tangail district early Friday.The victim, aged about 26, was admitted to Tangail Medical College and Hospital. Her medical test was conducted in the same hospital on Saturday. The victim’s husband Bakhtiar filed a case against six persons in this connection with Dhanbari Police Station, said our local correspondent quoting police. Officer-in-Charge of Dhanbari Police Station Majibur Rahman said the victim’s husband is also a transport worker and he filed the case making the three main accused.Meanwhile, police arrested three alleged rapists on Saturday following a lawsuit registered with Dhanbari Police Station. They are bus driver Habibur Rahman Nayon, conductor Rezaul Karim Jewel and helper Abdul Khaleque alias Bhuttu.Earlier, three girls were also reportedly raped in two running buses in the capital and Manikganj district respectively in 2013 and 2014. Quoting the victim, Saleh Mohammed Tanvir, Superintendent of Police in Tangail, said, “The victim had been on a visit to her aunt’s residence in Dattabari village in Dhanbari upazila and got into a bus of Binimoy Paribahan to return to her residence in Gazipur around 5:00am on Friday. At one stage, the driver Nayan and two staff locked the gate and windows of the bus and started moving the bus without any other passenger. They tied her hands and legs and raped her in Sholakuri area of Madhupur upazila.”Local rescued her and sent the victim to Tangail Medical College and Hospital instantly, the police official said. Police also seized the bus during drives to arrest the six other accused of the case, the SP added. Dhanbari Police Station’s Inspector and Investigation Officer (IO) of the case said that accused Bhutta confessed his involvement with the incident under section-164 of criminal procedure. Police also sought three-day remand for Habibur Rahman Nayon, conductor Rezaul Karim Jewel. They are now police custody at the police station. “We are investigating the incident,” the police official said. Police will be sure of the rape incident after receiving the medical test report, he said. Tangail Medical College and Hospital Residential Medical Officer Abdus Sobhan said: “A medical board has been examining the victim.”The board’s member Dr Rehana said, “The victim has claimed she was gang-raped. We have collected evidence of rape as well. She is married and this why we will confirm the allegation only after a pathology test.”Tangail Tansport Workers’ Union General Secretary Lutfur Rahman Lalzu said: “I have been informed of the matter and it is a heinous incident for our organisation. We demand exemplary punishment for the rapists.”The incident took place two days after two sisters, both in their teens, were allegedly gang-raped in Laxmipur on Tuesday.On January 24, 2013, a garment worker, aged about 18, was violated by the driver and helper on a running bus in Manikganj.Two girls, aged 13 and 14, were fooled and trapped by the driver and the helper of a bus they were traveling in and gang-raped overnight in Kamalapur in June 2014.
