The High Court on Thursday upheld the death sentence of six out of the ten members of banned militant outfit Jama’ atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), awarded by a lower court, in a case over bomb attack on Gazipur Bar Association Auditorium in 2005 that left nine people dead.
An HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice JBM Hassan passed the order. The six convicts whose death penalty has been upheld are Enayetullah alias Walid alias Jewel, Arifur Rahman
alias Akash alias Hasib, Saidur Munshi alias Shahidul Munshi alias Emon alias Palash, Abdullah Al Sohain alias Jayid alias Akash, Nizamuddin Reza alias Roni alias Kochi and Tayebur Rahman alias Hasan.
Besides, the HC bench commuted death penalty of two other convicts- Murshidul Islam Masud alias Bhutto and Adnan Sami alias Ammar alias Jahangir-to life term imprisonment.
