Gafur Tower in city catches fire

A fire broke out at the Gafur Tower Surgical Market on Topkhana Road adjacent to the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) building at 6:05 pm on Monday.
The six-storied Gafur Tower has 60-70 shops of medical equipment and surgical items, according to sources.
The blaze broke out from a store house on the fifth floor of the building, said on duty fireman.
However, 10 units of the fire department reached
the spot at 6:15 pm and started an operation to douse the fire. Deputy Director of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense, Dhaka, Dinomoni Sharma told the FE that all their units are working hard to douse the fire.
He said the reason for the fire is yet to be known.
Meanwhile, a rescue operation was going on till the filing of the report, and there was no report of casualties so far.
