Aschool boy was electrocuted in Mymensingh’s Gafargaon while plucking mangoes. The deceased was identified as Mostakin, 13.
He is the only son of Saudi expatriate Abdus Salam from Tanpara area of Mashakhali village in Mostakin upazila. He was studying in the eighth grade of local Mashakhali High School. He died at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at 8 am on Sunday.
According to locals and family members, Saiful Haque (60) of Tanpara area of Mashakhali called Mostakin from his house and picked him up from the mango tree on Thursday afternoon. At this time Saiful handed over a raw bamboo to Mostakin for planting mangoes. Later, while laying mangoes with raw bamboo from the high branches of the tree, mostakin with bamboo is hung by touching the electric wire. Locals later rescued Mostakin and admitted him to Gafargaon Upazila Health Complex.
