An expatriate named Sharful Dhali (28) was killed by his father, mother and brother in Chakua village of Niguari union under Pagla police station of Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh. He died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital at 8:30 am on Thursday.
Though mother Hossain Ara (45) was arrested in the incident, accused father Ishaq Dhali (55) and younger brother Ashraful Dhali (25) are absconding. Pagla Police Station OC Mohammad Rasheduzzaman confirmed the information.
It is learned that expatriate Sharful, son of Ishaq Dhali of Chakua village of the upazila, used to work in Lebanon for 6 years with a good salary. He returned to the country six months ago. While working in exile, he would send all the money he earned to his father. After returning to the country, his father refused to give him any money. This often led to quarrels between father and son. At around 6.30 am on Wednesday, father Ishaq Dhali, mother Hossain Ara and younger brother Ashraful Dhali beat Sharful Dhali on the head, legs and chest with iron rods and shovels and seriously injured him.
Ishaq Dhali, Hosne Ara and Ashraful Dhali chased the locals with sharp weapons when their relatives and locals went to rescue him at the shout of Sharful Dhali. On hearing the news that afternoon, Pagla police rescued Sharful Dhali and took him to the Upazila Health Complex. Later, when the situation deteriorated, he was taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Sharful Dhali died at 8:30 am on Thursday.
According to the relatives of the deceased, his parents used to quarrel with his son Sharful Dhali over the money sent from abroad. At one stage of the altercation on Wednesday morning, Ashraful Dhali was beaten by his mother, father and brother with iron rods and shovels, leaving him in a semi-dead condition and locked the scissors gate. Later, the police came and rescued him.
Pagla Police Station OC Mohammad Rasheduzzaman said preparations are underway to file a murder case. Accused mother Hosne Ara has been arrested. Attempts are being made to arrest the accused father and brother.
