News Desk :
The usual pre-Eid picture at the busy Gabtoli bus terminal in Bangladesh capital Dhaka was disparate on Saturday afternoon than that of the previous years.
Every year, this terminal become seriously busy with crowds of Eid time travellers but this year, the picture was different. Though the Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across Bangladesh only after one or two days, the number of home-bound people at the terminal was few.
Same situation was seen at Kalyanpur bus counters.
The buses on northern and southern routes were seen leaving Gabtoli terminal on time, as there were no major traffic congestion on the major highways.
However, some long route bus passengers alleged that they had to pay extra for different routes.
The post-Ramzan Eid this year will be celebrated either on May 2 or May 3, based on moon sighting while the official Eid vacation starts on May 1.
Earlier, on Saturday, the second day of the weekend, home-bound people went to Gabtoli to leave Dhaka.
Counter staff of Hanif Paribahan and Shymoli Paribahan at the terminal told the media that buses on northern and southern routes were running on time due to clear roads.
Between 1:00pm and 2:00pm, the number of passengers at the terminal was few. The number of buses in front of the terminal was also few.
Outside the terminal, motorcyclists and car drivers were seen passing leisure time due to lack of passengers.
This year, most of the Eid travellers left Dhaka much earlier, said Raju Sheikh, a car owner who took passengers to Aricha from the terminal.
