Jihad's death: Further probe directed

A Dhaka court on Thursday passed order for further investigation into the death of child Jihad who died after falling into an abandoned shaft of a water pump in the capital’s Shahjahanpur area.
Magistrate Md Mahbubur Rahman of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka gave the order in response to a petition of Jihad’s father Nasir Fakir.
The four-year old child died inside a 600-feet abandoned shaft of a water pump at Shahjahanpur Railway Colony on December 26, 2014. His body was pulled out from
the well almost 23 hours after the incident.
Later, Jihad’s father filed a case against contractor Abdus Salam and Senior Sub Assistant Engineer of Bangladesh Railway Jahangir Alam on allegation of negligence in performing their duties.
